Selecting a Swiss army perfume

by Troy Hassani

The Swiss army brand is one that has for decades conjured up notions of integrity, excellence and refinement in the camping and outdoor world with such indispensable tools as the Swiss army knife and sturdy Swiss Army brand watches.

Perhaps not so well known is the history of the company in the production of perfumes. The company has in fact been producing high quality scents for over a decade and the quality and success of the Swiss army perfume range is attested to by the fact that they have recently released their fourth scent onto the market.

The first Swiss army perfume

The first perfume to ever be produced by the company went by the simple name of Swiss army cologne and was first released back in 1996. This scent was a success by all accounts with impressive sales numbers not only in the US but also abroad in Europe as well.

The initial success experienced by the makers of Swiss army cologne would have acted as a great encouragement to embark on further projects in the perfume field, and since 1996 three new scents have been released onto the market carrying the Swiss army brand name.

Far from losing popularity and fading away, the first Swiss army cologne to hit the market 13 years ago is still going strong and has undergone a minor re branding to reflect it’s status. Now named the original Swiss army cologne, it is still selling as well as its more recent counterparts.

As one might imagine the Swiss army cologne is a very refreshing fragrance reminiscent of the crisp clean air of the Swiss mountains. There are a whole host of different ingredients that go into making the scent including. citrus, swet spice, moss, cedar and ylang ylang.

Swiss army Altitude perfume

Altitude is the name that was given to the second fragrance to be released by Victorinox. The continuation of sales of this product since 2001 is a testament to it’s success on the world market. Similar to the original scent, this one is also reminiscent of a romantic mountain scene with fresh air being the inspiration behind this cologne.

Main ingredients of this cologne include Juniper, Cedar Leaves, Water mint and Mountain Sage. A 3.4 oz bottle of Swiss Army altitude cologne will cost you $25.

Mountain water by Swiss army

This is the newest and most pricey perfume for men to be released by Swiss Army. Launched in 2008, Mountain water is costs around $40 for a 3.4 oz bottle; however, despite the comparatively high price this cologne is doing just as well as its predecessors.

With the release of Mountain water it is clear that Victorinox are trying to maintain a connection between their perfumes and the image associated with the general Swiss army brands. In fact, its fair to say that many of the people who but Swiss army colognes ar the same people that buy Swiss army knives and watches.

Swiss army for women is a cologne that proves the company is interested in catering to the needs of both sexes. With ingredients such as daffodil and buttercup it is obvious that the company is trying to say rue to it’s mountain rugged sources while affording it’s female customers a touch of feminine softness.
