What does your scent say about you?

Saturday, March 28th, 2009
by Alicia R Duncan

What is your naked aroma? Scientists have found that it is our natural odor that attracts that special someone to us. While our natural scent is generally cloaked with soap, hair products and perfume or cologne the goal is to discover the finest scent or scents that take advantage of your own chemistry to enhance your naked aroma. The discovery of that scent applies to both sexes.

Your fist step should be to determine what type of skin type do you have? Is it oily ” in this youre your skin will intensify your cologne or perfume. Go for softer, lighter scents as it will be very powerful. Also try something a tad sweeter like citrus or vanilla. For women a light floral would also be complementary and for men think fresh.

Scent has a harder time adhering to dryer skin tones and putting more on or often is not the answer. Find intense colognes or perfumes such as caramel, musk, spice, coffee or the multitude of combinations thereof.

Your nose will know! Scents that appeal to your sense of smell are generally a good choice ” be careful, the scent has to warm ” so wait five minutes after it has been applied before deciding it is the one for you. There is no answer to what is the best cologne for men or for women for that matter as it is totally individualistic.

So take your time when shopping for a cologne or perfume and initially do not purchase online unless you are buying a scent you already love. You are going to have to take some time and go to a store that has a large choice. Take full advantage of the sales person, and describe the scent you are looking for, i.e. something sexy, spicy or light and fresh. You are going to be given a number of choices and they should be sprayed on a scent card. Between sniffs, use the coffee bean trick, it will cleanse your nostrils. When you find ones that you like, let it warm for a minimum of five minutes and then smell it again. Do you like how it has changed? Ok, now try it on yourself and wait again ” if you still like it, then that scent belongs to you.

A common mistake is to ask someone what perfume they are wearing and then rush out and get it because you like it that much. Everyones body chemistry is different, I will promise you that how a perfume reacts on one person; will not be the way it will react with your own natural chemistry. Try it first.

The only time you should purchase a new scent for someone is if you are intimate with them. You will know their natural scent and again, will instinctively know how a cologne or perfume will work on them. Once you smell the warmed scent ” it will either catch you or turn you off.

What Is The Difference Between Perfume And Cologne

Why do people use perfumes and colognes? There are a number of reasons why people choose to wear them. Beside the fact that it can make you smell good, good perfumes can also make you more feel more attractive and thus increase your self-confidence. A few centuries ago, people used to smell really bad. That was until a few clever people discovered the use of colognes and perfumes.

Nowadays, it’s almost unacceptable to even smell bad. If you have body odor, then the least you should do is to slap on some deodorant, or spritz on some cologne or perfume. Not only will you smell better, but masking the odor will lead others to believe you actually smell good!

But while everyone may be familliar with perfumes and colognes, very few know what makes them so different. Most people assume that perfumes are for women, and colognes are for men. While there may be some truth to that in terms of their usage, that isn’t what makes them different.

The main difference lies in the concentration of essential oils found in both substances: perfume has more varieties of essential oils mixed in it than cologne. And depending on which brand, they have different potencies. The essential oils are then diluted with ethanol, water, and various solvents, a critical step that prevents it from irritating your skin.

Technically, perfume tends to stay on much longer than cologne. Most people’s perfumes can linger for up to seven to eight hours, which is why you only need a spritz or two on your body. With even heavier perfumes, all you need to do is to place one or two dabs on your neck. Compared to perfume, cologne is 3-4% less concentrated. That’s why it doesn’t linger on the body as longer. Cologne should be applied on your pulse areas”mainly your neck and wrists”so that it can radiate around your body.

So next time you want to impress a few people at a party, tell them a little bit about the proper ways of wearing colognes and perfumes. They might even compliment you on the way you smell!

As you all know, buying expensive designer perfume doesn’t necessarily mean you have to spend a lot, you just have to be wiser in how you use your money. So here are a few money saving tips for your next perfume shopping spree.

So you’ve heard of that new brand of perfume that just came out, and you’re dying to have it. Do you just run out and buy it from the closest store? Of course not! You should never try to impulse buy, and instead wait for the holiday sales. You’ll find that most stores offer great bargains for perfumes during Valentine’s Day, Christmas and Good Friday. It’s during the holidays when stores typically go on sales, so you should take advantage of their low, low prices.

Another wonderful sales opportunity comes directly after holiday: after holiday sales. Yes, you heard me correctly. Most stores often increase their inventory during the holiday season, and which they then have to get rid off once the holiday rush is done. They are so anxious to get rid of extra inventory that even if an item isn’t on sale, they will more than likely give you one, so long as you ask. Most stores are in a rush to make room for new invetory, that they will do everything to get rid of surplus stocks.

One other good idea is to keep tabs on your favorite perfume company. Like any other company, the release of a new product forces them to make room on their shelves. As a result, they lower the prices on older stock.

This way, they not only get rid of old inventory, but re-introduce their old line, further establishing their brand. This means being able to stay loyal to their company, but at the same time, getting their products with a significant discount!

Here’s one insider tip in getting women’s perfumes at lower than even wholesale prices. If you don’t mind buying opened perfume bottles, then consider buying the bottles that stores use as their testers. Most department stores will sell half-empty perfume tester bottles, which means it’s half off of even bargain prices. The contents are the same, the only difference is, it’s opened, so you get a huge discount! So there it is, another set of tips on how to get the best value for your money when buying women’s perfume.

Should You Buy Human Pheromones?

Saturday, March 7th, 2009
by Heidi Hall

Have you ever met someone for the first time and felt an intense spark of chemistry? It doesn’t happen often, but when it does it is great. That is the work of human pheromones.

Now whether or not pheromones are as effective as some manufactures claim is a matter of some speculation. Since 1959 scientists have known about how pheromones work in animals to control social behavior, but many thought that humans didn’t have this same trait.

Recently, however, pheromones have been shown to work in a variety of situations and circumstances for humans as well. Both men and women produce these chemical “scents”, often in there sweat and they are picked up at a subconcious level.

For instance, one of the most interesting studies on human pheromones (done at the University of Kentucky) showed that women who were shown pictures of men that had been sprayed with androsterone rated those men as more attractive. Of course when you are viewed as more attractive a whole bunch of things in your life become much, much easier.

To get these subliminal scents to work for you, you need to know a few things.

First, you need to be aware that some pheromone manufacturers and distributors are better than others. There are legitimate companies out there, but some sell you products with big claims that have little to no active ingrediants. Be sure you are dealing with a reputable company when ordering pheromones.

Second, with pheromones more is definately not better. A little goes a long way with pheromones. When you purchase a pheromone product, be sure to start out with just a bit, then increase until you get the desired effect.

Third. Pheromones are really cool, but they aren’t magic. The effects of pheromones are real and noticeable, but usually subtle. They won’t turn you from a shy person into an extrovert, but they can make you appear more attractive, confident, and trustworthy.
